Ninety-five percent of web design is typography. The rest is arranging the space around it.

The pairing decides everything

A display face carries personality; a body face carries the reading. Pair them for contrast, not similarity — and use the display face with restraint, so it stays special.

Rhythm and measure

Keep line length between 60 and 75 characters
Set line height around 1.6 for body text
Establish a modular scale and stick to it

Good typography is invisible. Bad typography is all you can see.

The best type treatment feels inevitable — as though the words could never have looked any other way.
